What Is The Average Temperate Of The Pools?

In season, our salt-water pools are kept at an average temperature of 81 degrees.

Are There Lifeguards On The Beaches?

No, swimming is at your own risk and we highly recommend adult supervisor for any children playing in the water. Bald Head Island beaches tend to have strong currents; South and East beach are better areas for swimming. The Shoals Club is located on East Beach and the Frying Pan Shoals.

Do I Have To Bring My Own Towels, Beach Chairs & Umbrellas?

Lounge chairs, umbrellas and pool side towel service are available daily, beginning on March 29, 2021.  Due to COVID and the restrictions put into place, we will require reservations again for the 2021 season.  Reservations are limited to 2 hour time slots, every hour, on the hour, from 10am-5pm, for parties up to 10 people.  Reservations can be made up to 48 hours in advance for our temporary members and up to 72 hours in advance for our Full Members.  Reservations can be made by either going to or calling the front office at 910-454-4888 between 9am-4pm.  Free swim will be available on a first come, first served basis; hours tbc.

We offer chairs & umbrellas at the beach access. This is all first come basis. Please return your beach chairs umbrellas and towel to appropriate location when you leave the club.  Please be prepared to provide your membership card.

Am I Allowed To Bring My Dog To The Shoals Club?

Dogs or other pets (with the exception of those assisting persons with disabilities) are not permitted on the Shoals Club Facilities, except with the permission of the Shoals Club. Where dogs are permitted on the grounds, they must be on a leash. Members are responsible for damage caused by an animal owned by the member or under the member's control.

What Happens If My Golf Cart Battery Dies While At The Club?

Unfortunately, the Shoals Club company policy does not allow guests to charge their carts at the club. For assistance, call Cary Cart Company or your rental agent/homeowner for help.

I Am Coming To The Island In The Off-Season. Will The Shoals Club Be Open?

The Shoals Club is open seasonally, typically mid-March through the end of November.   The Shoals Club pool is scheduled to open March 29, 2021 for the 2021 season, and will stay open through the end of October. Please refer to our Calendar for the most current and up to date information.

Can I Pack A Picnic And Have A Pool-Side Lunch?

The Shoals Club does not allow outside food on their property. You may have couple of bottles of water and light snacks, but please no outside food. We will offer a Beach Cooler picnic again this summer.  Details to follow.

I'm A Full Member Of The Club, Can My Family/Guest Come To The Club Without Me?

In order for your family or guest to be able to come to the club unaccompanied by a Full Member, they must purchase a Temporary Membership or an Annual Membership (if applicable) 

What Are The Annual Dues For The Shoals Club?

The Shoals Club annual dues rate for 2021-2022 are TBC. The Shoals Club membership dues are billed on a twelve-month fiscal year of May 1- April 30. Members who choose to pay annual dues, in advance, on or before April 30, 2021 (date changes every year), will receive a discounted dues rate. 

What Special Privileges Do Full Shoals Club Members Receive?

Full members receive a 25% discount on food purchases at the Shoals Club, not including special dining events. They also enjoy exclusive access to members' socials, special members' dinner and the annual Labor Day Members Party.. Please remember to bring your member card with you when you are at the Shoals Club. This is especially helpful to the staff when charging to the Shoals Club member account and should help us ensure accurate billing to your account.  Replacement cards are available at a small fee, please contact the office 910-454-4888.
